Book of Genesis

The book of Genesis is the foundational text for the Christian faith. Its many and varied stories are cited throughout the Old and New Testaments and by theologians throughout the history of the Church due to its claims about the origins of the universe, the birth of humanity, the introduction of sin and violence in the world, and God's plan to restore Creation through the descendants of one family. In this class, we will explore these texts and their meanings in both biblical and historical contexts. Each class will invite discussion about the finer details of the individual stories and how they relate to the broader narrative in Genesis.
