Tis’ So Sweet To Trust In Jesus
Louisa M. R. Stead and William James Kirkpatrick | Public Domain.
'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
Just to take Him at His word
Just to rest upon His promise
And to know thus saith the Lord
O how sweet to trust in Jesus
Just to trust His cleansing blood
Just in simple faith to plunge me
'Neath the healing cleansing flood
Jesus Jesus how I trust Him
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus
O for grace to trust Him more
I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee
Precious Jesus Savior Friend
And I know that Thou art with me
Wilt be with me to the end
Jesus Jesus how I trust Him
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er (Repeat x3)
Jesus Jesus precious Jesus
O for grace to trust Him more
Prayers of the People
The following prayer is taken/adapted from Daily Prayer with the Corrymeela Community
by Pádraig O Tuama, Canterbury Press, 2017, 44-45, Revised.
there is pain.
And where there is pain,
there is a story.
May we find you, O Lord, in our stories.
Where there is a story,
there is understanding.
and misunderstanding,
listening
and not listening.
May we hear your voice, O Lord, in our stories.
May we – separated peoples, estranged strangers,
Unfriended families, divided communities –
turn toward each other,
And turn toward our stories,
With understanding
and listening,
with argument and acceptance,
with challenge, change
and consolation.
May we turn to you, O Lord, as we turn to each other.
We ask this, O Lord, because we know that
You are within
and beyond
all our groups and stories,
Because if You are to be found,
You will be found
In the space between.
May we find you, O Lord, in the space between. Amen.
Jesus Calls Us
Lyrics: © 1989 Iona Community | Tune (Nettleton): unknown
Jesus calls us here to meet him
as through word and song and prayer
We affirm God’s promised presence
where his people live and care
Praise the God who keeps his promise
Praise the Son who calls us friends
Praise the Spirit who among us
to our hopes and fears attends
Jesus calls us to confess him
Word of life and Lord of all
Sharer of our flesh and frailness,
saving all who fail or fall
Tell his holy human story,
share his word that all may hear
Tell the world that Christ in glory
came to earth to meet us here
Jesus calls us to each other,
found in him are no divides
Race and class and sex and language,
such are barriers he derides
Join the hands of friend and stranger,
join the hands of age and youth
Join the faithful and the doubter
in their common search for truth
Praise the God who keeps his promise
Praise the Son who calls us friends
Praise the Spirit who among us
to our hopes and fears attends
Speak O Lord
Keith Getty and Stuart Townend | © 2005 Thankyou Music
Speak O Lord as we come to you
To receive the food of your holy word
Take your truth, plant it deep in us
Shape and fashion us in your likeness
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith
Speak O Lord and fulfill in us
all your purposes for your glory
Teach us Lord full obedience,
holy reverence, true humility
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of your purity
Cause our faith to rise, cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority
Words of power that can never fail
Let their truth prevail over unbelief
Speak O Lord and renew our minds
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity
And by grace we'll stand on Your promises
And by faith we'll walk as You walk with us
Speak O Lord till Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory
Scripture Readings (NIV)
Romans 15:5-6
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 2:1-4
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Teach us your ways, teach us your ways
As we learn from one another
Learn to love each other
Teach us your ways
Teach us to give, teach us to give
Give ourselves for one another
Learn to love each other
Teach us to give
Teach us to weep, teach us to weep
Let us weep with one another
Learn to love each other
Teach us to weep
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Let us learn from one another
Learn to love each other
Teach us your ways
