Bible Friday: What Did Jesus Mean by the "Kingdom of God"?
This event has now ended. Please view this page to see all our upcoming events.
The Regent Bookstore invites you to a special "Bible Friday" event featuring Dr. Michael F. Bird.
About the Lecture
The "kingdom of God" was central to the message of Jesus. But what did the kingdom mean? How was it to be enacted among his followers? In this lecture, Michael Bird (Deputy Principal and Lecturer in Theology, Ridley College) will explain the context and contents of Jesus's kingdom message. He'll also examine its consequences for the church, unpacking what it means to be kingdom people who are true to the kingdom vision of Jesus himself.
About the Speaker
Michael F. Bird describes himself as a "biblical theologian" who endeavours to bring together biblical studies and systematic theology. He believes that the purpose of the church is to "gospelize"—that is, to preach, promote, and practise the Gospel-story of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the author of over 30 books, including the award-winning volumes The Gospel of Lord: How the Early Church Wrote the Story of Jesus, Evangelical Theology, and, with N.T. Wright, The New Testament in Its World.
Dr. Bird is teaching on The History of Heresy during Regent's January Intensive session (Jan 8–12, 2024).
