About the Lecture
A recent trend in biblical scholarship has sharpened focus on moral criticism of the Bible—namely, questioning how a text that has been put to such profoundly evil use throughout human history (especially concerning human oppression) can be good. Join Beth Allison Barr in this free public lecture as she explores not only the reality and historical implications of biblical patriarchy but also how it has been interpreted by women (especially medieval women). While it is true that patriarchy is deeply rooted in both the Bible and Christian history, it is also true that women have found the Bible to be a source of liberation, redemption, and hope.
