Join us on Wednesdays during this year’s Summer Programs to enjoy conversations with members of our summer faculty. The professors and topics are different each week, so there’s always something new to explore.

Topic

This week, you’re invited to a roundtable conversation with historian Beth Allison Barr, New Testament scholar Lynn H. Cohick, and Old Testament scholar Lissa Wray Beal. The three of them will discuss the vital but oft-forgotten contributions of women through the history of Christianity. Join us at noon in Room 100, and feel free to bring your lunch.

Speakers

Beth Allison Barr is James Vardaman Professor of History at Baylor University. She teaches on European women, medieval history, and world history, and is the author of The Making of Biblical Womanhood. She is teaching The Cost of Forgetting Church History for Women at Regent this summer.

Lynn H. Cohick is Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Director of Houston Theological Seminary at Houston Christian University. She is President of the Institute for Biblical Research, and the author of Women in the World of the Earliest Christians (2009) among various other works. This summer she is teaching on Women in the New Testament & Early Church.

Lissa Wray Beal is Professor of Old Testament at Wycliffe College, Toronto School of Theology, the author of various commentaries, and an ordained priest in the Anglican Church. She is teaching this summer on God & the Kings: Power, Praise & Pragmatics in 1–2 Kings.

Format

Wednesday Lunchtime Conversations will be offered onsite at Regent College. These events are open to the public, and no registration is required.

While these lunchtime events will not be available online, many of the faculty participants are also delivering Evening Public Lectures that will be livestreamed and available for a limited time on Regent's YouTube channel. Visit rgnt.net/live to learn more!
