Assuming we live in a secular age, could 1 Peter be a New Testament Epistle with a timely message “for such a time as this?” We will consider how the wisdom of this book can give direction to the content and contours of disciple-making for Christian communities, particularly those that foster spiritual maturity in churches seeking to be intentionally present to its social context.
Gordon T. Smith is the President of Ambrose University in Calgary, Alberta as of August 2012. He continues to teach courses at Regent College topics such as spiritual practices, conversion, and discernment. He previously served as the Academic Dean at Regent. He is an ordained minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. His recent publications include Institutional Intelligence: How to Build an Effective Organization (IVP Academic, 2017), and Evangelical, Sacramental, and Pentecostal: Why the Church Should be All Three (IVP Academic, 2017). He is married to Joella and together they have two grown sons.
