Together at Midday
This event has now ended. Please view this page to see all our upcoming events.
One of the hallmarks of life at Regent is the opportunity to be together––reflecting, discussing, sharing, praying––and in the midst of doing so, to forge new relationships and to strengthen old ones. While we can’t do so in person this year, we invite you to join us at midday every other Wednesday this fall to engage with a short reflection from current and former Regent faculty or a special guest, and then spend time in a breakout room discussing, reflecting, and getting to know one another. Together at Midday is open to our wide Regent community, so this is a lovely opportunity to get to know alumni, current students, and friends of the College. Feel free to eat your lunch while we are together.
This week we will be joined by Matt Lynch, Assistant Professor in Old Testament. You can read more about Matt here.
Matt will reflect on "Christian Language of Trust in Times of Turmoil"
With the persistence of Covid-19, political division, and social unrest Christians are regularly encouraging trust in God's sovereignty (kingship) and the need to avoid fear. Psalm 46 has become a kind of anthem for our times. But can such calls to trust and avoid fear backfire and do a disservice to Christians? Can such admonitions foster political and social complacency? In this Together At Midday, we'll consider these questions about how Christians use the language of trust and fearlessness.
Together at Midday is free, but we request that you RSVP below to help us manage our time together well. We will start promptly at 12pm, so please join the zoom meeting a few minutes early so we are ready to go at noon.
Please ensure you are running the latest version of Zoom.
