Emeriti

David Clemens

Biblical Languages, Retired
BA (Cambridge), MCS (Regent College), MA (University of British Columbia), PhD (Chicago)

David Clemens has had a long involvement with Regent College: as a student in the 1970s, as an instructor in Greek and Hebrew in the 1980s, and as a member of faculty from 2001 to 2016. His doctoral work at the University of Chicago focused on Northwest Semitic Philology, with a focus on the sacrificial system of the kingdom of Ugarit. (Since their discovery in 1928, Ugaritic materials have been of interest to Old Testament scholars due to the new light they shed on religious and cultural practices in Syria-Palestine at the time the Israelites came there from Egypt.) Prior to coming to Regent, David taught courses in Old Testament Hebrew and ancient semetics at the University of Chicago, Wilfrid Laurier University, and Emmanuel Bible College.

David and his wife Patricia have five children.
