Plan now to make a secure and tax-deductible gift by December 31.
Every year, the Regent community relies on hundreds of donors who make the College's mission possible through their generous giving. We're deeply grateful, and we want to make the donation process as easy as possible—especially amid the disruptions caused by the current Canada Post strike.
If you pay taxes in the United States, the United Kingdom, or Hong Kong, scroll down to find out how to benefit from charitable giving policies in your area when you make a year-end gift.
Christmas Appeal Update
We love sending out a hard-copy Christmas letter to friends across North America every year. This year's letter is all queued up and ready to go—as soon as postal service resumes! But, because we're not certain when that will be (and because significant delays will likely continue for some time afterward), we encourage you to make your year-end gift before you receive our letter in the mail.
Fortunately, you can read our full Christmas letter online, or download a PDF copy. We're especially excited to share two beautiful reflections submitted by student leaders who are helping our community deepen its practice of spiritual formation in this season.
Tips for Canadian Donors
In light of the current postal strike and anticipated delays to follow, we strongly recommend planning to make your year-end gift online by credit card or e-transfer. Please keep in mind that if you require a 2024 tax receipt for your gift, it is your responsibility to ensure it is received and processed (or, if mailed, postmarked) on or before December 31.
Note: Regent's offices will close at 4.30 pm on Friday, December 20, and re-open on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
How to Get a 2024 Canadian Tax Receipt
Here’s what to do if you require a 2024 Canadian tax receipt for your gift.
1. Give online by credit card. Simply make your online donation before midnight (Pacific Time) on December 31 to ensure your gift is received in 2024.
2. Donate by e-Transfer. Make an Interac e-Transfer gift by sending funds to [email protected]. Be sure to include your full name, email, and mailing address in the memo so we can send you your receipt!
3. Make a credit card gift by phone. Call our Advancement team at 1-800-663-8664, ext. 390 (toll-free in North America), or 1-604-221-3390. Please be sure to call before noon on Friday, December 20, to ensure that your gift is processed before the College's holiday closure.
4. Mail a cheque—and make sure it's postmarked in 2024. While we recommend giving electronically to ensure that Regent receives your donation in a timely way, you are welcome to give by mail once Canada Post resumes normal service. Please make your cheque out to Regent College and send it to the address below.
Attn: Advancement Office
5800 University Blvd
Vancouver, BC V6T 2E4
Per CRA rules, donations sent by mail must be postmarked no later than December 31 to receive a 2024 receipt. Please note:
- Cheque gifts will be receipted based on the date of the postmark on the envelope—not the date on the cheque.
- Simply placing your mail in a collection box does not guarantee that it will be postmarked that day. Where possible, the most effective way to ensure a same-day postmark is to visit a post office and ask that your mail be stamped immediately.
Note: We do not recommend mailing credit card information, as we cannot guarantee that payments will be processed in time to provide a 2024 receipt, especially given the likelihood of significant ongoing postal delays.
Tips for US Donors
US taxpayers can make a tax-deductible gift to Regent College Foundation USA, a 501(c)(3) organization based in Seattle.
Note: While the job action undertaken by Canada Post employees service will not affect mail sent and received within the United States, it does mean that we may not be able to supply business reply envelopes to our friends in the US this year.
How to Get a 2024 US Tax Receipt
Here’s what to do if you require a 2024 US tax receipt for your year-end donation.
To give by credit card, simply donate online before midnight (Pacific Time) on December 31 to ensure your gift is received in 2024.
If you're giving by cheque, make sure it's postmarked no later than December 31, 2024. Make your cheque out to Regent College Foundation, and mail it to:
P.O. Box 33276
Seattle, WA 98133
Per IRS rules, donations sent by mail must be postmarked in 2024 to receive a 2024 receipt.
- Cheque gifts will be receipted based on the date of the postmark on the envelope—not the date on the cheque.
- Simply placing your mail in a collection box does not guarantee that it will be postmarked that day. The most effective way to ensure a same-day postmark is to visit a post office and ask that your mail be stamped immediately.
Note: We do not recommend mailing credit card information, as credit card gifts must be charged before the end of the year to be considered a 2024 gift, and your credit card information will likely not be processed in time.
Tips for International Donors
If you pay taxes in the United Kingdom or Hong Kong, you may benefit from donating to one of Regent’s partner organizations (see below). Other international donors can donate directly to Regent College.
Donating from the UK
British taxpayers can take advantage of the UK’s Gift Aid benefit by donating to the Friends of Regent College Canada Trust. (This effectively adds 25p to every pound you donate!) Click below to make a Gift Aid donation online, or visit the Trust’s website for details on how to give by post or bank transfer.
Donating from Hong Kong
Hong Kong taxpayers can donate to the Regent College (Hong Kong) Foundation. Visit the Foundation’s website to download a gift form and find instructions on giving by cheque or bank transfer.
Regent College (Hong Kong) Foundation Ltd. is a recognized charitable organization which is exempt from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance in Hong Kong. Cumulative annual donations of HK$100 or above are tax deductible with an official receipt in Hong Kong.
The generosity of donors means so much to the Regent community. We’re grateful to God for providing for Regent and its students, and we’re grateful to the friends and supporters he uses to do so! If you choose to make a gift of any kind this year-end, you can be sure it will make a real difference in the lives of students. Thank you!
