In this lecture, Dr. Milbank will explore one of the theoretical foundations of Radical Orthodoxy, an ongoing theological movement tracing its origins to Milbank's landmark work, Theology and Social Theory: Beyond Secular Reason. In response to the modern tendency to distance God from creation, Milbank will attempt to re-ignite the traditional view that the properties of creation owe their ongoing existence and operation to the Creator. Dr. Milbank will isolate three realities each of us encounters every day—time, motion, and mystery—teasing out how each finds its roots in the Trinity.
What is the fruit of this endeavour? That our day-to-day life can lead us into more constant awareness and wonder at the ever-present reality of our Triune God.
Dr. Milbank will deliver this lecture via Zoom. All are invited to gather in the Regent College Chapel for a free live screening of the lecture followed by a response, delivered by Ross Hastings (Sangwoo Youtong Chee Professor of Theology at Regent College), and a Q&A . The event will also be available via livestream at rgnt.net/live.
