Accounting Assistant

Part-time (21 hours per week), permanent

Reporting to the Regent College Accountant, the Accounting Assistant will be responsible for timely reconciliations, banking, and finance administration for Regent’s $9 million operating budget and assets over $10 million. The position will work within defined policies and will have the opportunity to shape and refine the College’s planning and forecasting activity.

The hourly rate for this position is between $25-27.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake company secretarial duties for Regent College Finance Committee and the Regent College 2000 Foundation—key tasks include meeting arrangements and minute-taking
  • Complete month-end accounting procedures including reconciliation of monthly credit card statements
  • Administer corporate credit cards and Certificates of Insurance
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting
  • Perform financial analysis as required
  • Support the annual budget process
  • Support accounts payable with responsibility for wire payments and online bill payments
  • Make weekly deposits to the bank as required
  • Perform ad hoc counts for departmental petty cash
  • Undertake ad hoc projects in relation to streamlined banking services
  • Undertake other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Understands and supports the ethos and mission of Regent College as articulated in the Theological Position (http://www.regent-college.edu/about-us/theological-position)
  • Has an undergraduate degree in a relevant field
  • Is highly organized, detail oriented, and accurate
  • Has a high level of proficiency with excel
  • Has excellent written communication skills
  • Is able to handle large volumes of data
  • Maintains confidentiality with integrity
  • Experience in finance, accounting or business is considered an asset
  • Working towards an accounting designation is preferred
  • Experience with a general ledger system an asset
