New Chinese Ministry Scholarship Announced
Regent College is very pleased to announce the introduction of a new scholarship for Chinese Students. The Chinese Ministry Scholarship, provided by an anonymous donor, supports rigorous theological education for Chinese students who are committed to serving the Chinese church when their studies are complete. The generous gift will supply full-time Regent tuition and living expenses for one Chinese student each academic year.
In expressing his gratitude for the gift, President Jeff Greenman commented: “I am delighted at this opportunity to deepen our relationship with the Chinese community. Regent College deeply values and embraces its identity as a truly international community. We have been so blessed by the bright and faithful Chinese students and scholars who have studied with us in the past and we rejoice at this wonderful opportunity to provide present and future students with extra encouragement and support. We trust that this gift will be a blessing not only to our students but also to the churches and communities they go on to serve.”
Regent College has a long and rich history of engagement with Chinese scholars and students. For more than two decades, the college’s Chinese Studies Program, led by Dr. Edwin Hui, has sought to foster cross-cultural dialogue and fruitful engagement between Christianity and Chinese culture. Regent gladly anticipates the further strengthening of these bonds through the introduction of the Chinese Ministry Scholarship.
Academic Dean Paul Spilsbury notes, “Regent’s staff and faculty deeply value the relationships with the Chinese academic community that have been forged through our Chinese Studies Program. The college has also welcomed a growing community of Chinese students enrolled in Regent’s graduate programs. This scholarship provides a wonderful opportunity to welcome, bless, and equip our Chinese students. We are so grateful for this generous gift.”
Full-time Chinese students with a history of active involvement in church ministry are encouraged to apply for the Chinese Ministry Scholarship. The scholarship supplies full-time tuition, a monthly living allowance, and a disbursement for travel to and from China. Applicants must be Chinese students who intend to pursue full-time graduate studies at Regent College, have a demonstrated history of commitment to serving the church, and intend to return to China following graduation.
