New Christian Education Fund Will Support Students and Lay Leaders

Regent College is thrilled to announce both a new scholarship for degree-seeking students and a new audit bursary for lay leaders involved in church-based teaching ministry.
The Christian Education Fund is the result of a generous gift of $30,000 annually, made by a local couple who are passionate about helping church communities strengthen and enhance their teaching ministries. With this gift, they are pursuing this goal in two ways: bursaries for laypeople in teaching ministry and scholarships for enrolled students.
Director of Advancement Richard Thompson expressed his joy in this new initiative and his gratitude for the donors who made it possible.
“I’m so thankful for this wonderful couple and their heart for Christian education. Their commitment to the teaching ministry of the church represents an extraordinary investment in the future vitality of both congregations and individual believers. I have no doubt that the effects of this gift will ripple through many communities for years to come.”
Christian Education Bursaries
Starting this spring and summer, a portion of the Christian Education Fund will be used to provide bursaries to individuals who are active in teaching ministries in their local churches. These bursaries will cover most of the cost of auditing a Spring, Summer, or J-Term (January intensive) course. (Visit our Summer Programs website to browse Spring and Summer courses.)
Recipients do not need to be current Regent students, and do not need to apply for a program: all you need is a desire to learn and enrich your teaching!
Eligibility
Recipients of Christian Education Bursaries must be laypeople active in a teaching ministry in their local church (e.g., teaching Sunday school, leading a small group Bible study, etc.). Church staff members are not eligible for this bursary.
Process
Christian Education Bursaries will be administered by Regent’s Alumni & Church Relations Office. Applying is easy:
-
Fill out this online form to let us know you’re interested and confirm your eligibility. We’ll let you know whether your application has been approved by May 7 (for Spring courses) or June 22 (for Summer courses).
-
Register online to audit the course of your choosing, and pay $80 to cover the registration fee and tuition deposit.
-
The remaining cost of your course will be covered by the bursary (over $300 in value). Funds will be credited to your student account before the registration and payment deadline.
