A New Online Forum for Cutting Edge Approaches to Taking the Gospel Public
The Regent College Marketplace Institute is passionate about impacting public discourse and creating change for the common good—change that transforms individuals, communities, industry sectors, and the entire marketplace of ideas. The newly designed Marketplace Institute website provides a vehicle to share, collaborate, and inspire these changes.
Two main drivers dictated the focus and layout of our new website: accessibility and capacity for dialogue. We wanted the user experience of accessing all the resources we offer to be as easy and intuitive as possible, no matter where our users might be. And we wanted to hear from our users more often.
"We wanted the new site to better reflect the way we operate as a team and an organization--that we create space for conversation with others. Domain7 did a good job of incorporating this desire into the site design. We're excited about the end result and hope that the site furthers conversations about what it means for the gospel to be a public truth." –—Russell Pinson, Head of Operations, MI.
One of the most exciting features of the new website is therefore the expansion and re-design of the Ideas & Media section. We wanted to serve a wide population of working professionals who are looking for resources in the exploration of theologically informed, creative, and practical ways to transform their marketplace sectors and workplaces through the Christian gospel. The Ideas & Media pages are fundamentally about offering a fresh way of viewing the world through articles and media, particularly in the areas of Business & Economy, Environment, Science, and Society & Politics.
"For anyone feeling dazed by the challenge of Christian faithfulness amidst the complexities of modern life, the new Marketplace Institute website is your friend! Here, you have expert guidance at your fingertips from an array of thought leaders who are both biblically sound and professionally savvy. Mixing brief commentary with links to more extended reflections, and using multiple forms of media, the MI website is a rich resource that should only grow in usefulness over time." —Morgan Wills, MD.
Dialogue and engagement were the other key drivers of the new design. Our new site includes comment and rating capabilities, polls, and direct connections to our various social media networks. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
We completed the redesign of the website in partnership with Domain7, the web agency that developed the cutting-edge website for Regent College released in April 2012. Regent’s website has since gained much publicity for its design and layout, and we were blessed to have that same expertise invested in our site. Like the main Regent site, the new MI site is mobile-friendly with a responsive display, and has a new intuitive site layout.
"It was a privilege to delve into what makes Marketplace Institute tick, help them articulate what they do, and then find new ways to communicate their work on the web. We got to be part of some breakthrough moments for MI as they tackled the hard questions." — Kevan Gilbert, Content Strategist, Domain7.
