New Initiative to Help Canadian Church Groups Learn Together
Regent is pleased to announce a new Church Group Learning Initiative that aims to provide flexible financial support to congregations interested in learning together. This initiative is inspired and sponsored by Regent Exchange, a five-year project of walking with churches to help them discern God’s call and foster a posture of learning.
The Church Group Learning Initiative is available to churches anywhere in Canada. Applications must be submitted by April 30, 2024. We encourage interested groups to apply early, as funding is limited to 20 groups and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Two Ways to Learn Together
The Church Group Learning Initiative allows congregations to choose from two approaches to learning together.
-
Self-Guided: A group proposes a 3–4 month group learning project on a topic of interest, and Regent provides a grant of up to $1,000 CAD to fund the project.
- Course-Based: Regent provides bursaries to allow 3 church members to audit a Summer course at no cost. (Regent’s Church Group Benefit can help reduce costs for additional students if more than 3 people want to get involved.)
Application Process
Interested church groups are invited to apply using this form. Applicants will be asked to indicate whether they are interested in the self-guided or course-based approach, and then to either submit a project proposal or identify their course(s) of interest. Regent’s Church Engagement Office will contact applicants to let them know the status of their application and provide information about next steps.
Regent’s Church Engagement team looks forward to providing practical support for lifelong learning in Canadian churches—and to learning alongside participants!
