"I’m grateful to our generous donors who have made this important work possible."

Starting in August 2024, Regent College’s building will undergo renovations, primarily on the ground floor.

President Jeff Greenman commented, “Regent is committed to taking good care of our wonderful facility, a space which is so deeply loved by our community. It’s time for us to refresh our building with new paint, carpet, furniture, and fixtures so that we can serve our students and the wider public well. I’m grateful to our generous donors who have made this important work possible.”

While classes will proceed as usual, students and visitors to campus should expect some minor disruptions, noise, and bustle during Fall 2024. Apart from classes, most Regent events will be relocated, held online, or postponed. The Regent Bookstore will be closed for three weeks from August 6 to 23 and open regular hours once again in the Fall 2024 term. The Dal Schindell Gallery will be open from September 4 to October 30, 2024 with "Wandering in the Shades of Night" by interdisciplinary artist Shirley Wiebe. From November 2024 through mid-January 2025, the Gallery will be closed.

The most noticeable room closures, which will remain in effect throughout August and the coming Fall term, will be those of the Chapel and Room 100. Weekly Chapel services will be held at a nearby local church, University Chapel; details will be posted in due course.

Visitors will notice the removal and replacement of carpet on the main floor—while this work is taking place, those who want to sit, talk, and enjoy a coffee from The Well on campus should feel welcome to do so in the north atrium if they find the south atrium unavailable.

Washrooms on the main floor will be closed while work takes place in the atrium. Other room closures will be indicated through signage, as many rooms will be painted in the coming months. There will be no exterior door closures, so entrances and exits will be unaffected.

This long-awaited, much-needed work has been made possible by the many generous donors to Regent’s 2022 Caring for Place project, a component of the Deep Roots Wide Reach capital campaign. The Caring for Place project raised a total of $500,000 toward care for the College building. Hundreds of alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and students contributed a total of $250,000 toward the project, an amount that was then matched by one very generous donor.

Director of Advancement Richard Thompson expressed his gratitude for the donors who made this building refresh possible.

“I’m always telling people how amazing our donor community is, and this outcome proves it. We received over 450 individual donations to the Caring for Place project, ranging in size from $10 to the matching gift of $250,000. What an amazing achievement, and what a team effort! Every Caring for Place donor needs to know that their generosity will make Regent a more beautiful and welcoming place, starting this fall.”

Updates regarding construction that are relevant to students and the larger community will be posted on the College’s website and social media channels as they arise.
