Mary Beth Lascurain
Mary Beth is originally from the United States and earned her MS in mechanical engineering while working on research staff at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where she conducted heavy vehicle safety and efficiency research. She continued to work as a subcontractor for the laboratory for a number of years after marrying and moving to Canada several years ago
What began as a side hobby studying Biblical Hebrew eventually led to formal study at Regent College, where she earned her MATS in Biblical Languages and ThM in Old Testament. Mary Beth’s interests include communicative-oriented biblical language pedagogy; the interconnectedness of theology of scripture, hermeneutics, and linguistics; and the use of statistics in biblical studies. Her recent ThM thesis explored lexically-triggered Biblical Hebrew word order from the perspective of binomial statistics, and her current research applies construction grammar to Biblical Hebrew pedagogy. Mary Beth and her husband currently live in the UK, where Mary Beth is pursuing a PhD in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Cambridge.
